User experience research vs. market research for product design and development – a blurring line?

What is the difference in market research and user research? Traditionally market research has a wider perspective. Its methods are mostly quantitative, and focus on opinions. User research focuses more on behavioral data. However both disciplines are shifting more towards each other. It is important not to work in silos, but work together.
