We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable people who:

• Have 3+ years of experience in, and a passion for, research that meets the scope above. This call is for researchers: people who do the studying. 
• Are available for program curation (October 14 – December 15) and during the conference days (April 5-7)
• Enjoy working in a team and helping others
• Are comfortable communicating in English
• Preferably live in the Netherlands, or a similar timezone (+/- 2 hours)

Our curation team is itself cross-disciplinary. Members might include UX researchers, ethnographers, CX researchers, market researchers, or other research roles. You don’t need to already know the UX research world to fit in.

We’ll evaluate applications based on:

• Your research experience against the scope above
• Your cross-functional experience
• Additional skills and expertise you bring to the team
• Your practical availability
• The diversity of perspectives you contribute
• Your motivation to join

Volunteering at UXinsight Festival isn’t just about helping out. It’s about being part of something special.

As a volunteer, you’ll:

• Join a warm, inclusive, international community of people who research people, across disciplines and industries
• Work alongside a friendly and experienced Festival team
• Get a peek behind the scenes of a large-scale event
• Connect with speakers, attendees, and fellow volunteers
• Help shape a program that reflects the full breadth of people-centred research, not just one corner of it
• Grow your CV and your network, before, during and after the conference

Volunteering tasks are divided into three phases:

1. Reviewing speaker proposals
Review speaker proposals from October 14 to December 15. Up to 2 hours a week (estimate).

2. Curation of the program
Attend online team meetings to align and brainstorm on program and setup. Around 5-9 meetings of 1.5 hours each in 2026, and around 3 meetings in 2027, all in the Amsterdam timezone.

3. Support during the Festival days
Be present in person on April 5-7, assisting with:

• Setting up the scene
• Welcoming and guiding attendees
• Supporting speakers and sponsors
• Helping during Q&A
• Supporting network activities
• Cleaning up after the event

In return for your time and energy:

• Free access to UXinsight Festival 2027, including social events
• A 3-night stay in Leiden, the Netherlands (April 4-6)
• A spot in a cosy, diverse team of research professionals
• Plenty of inspiration from the practical research field, across disciplines
• The chance to grow your CV and contribute your experience to the research community

No. Check the scope above: if your research is about understanding people, and it informs decisions about a product, service, or experience, you qualify, whatever your job title.

For practical reasons, we’re looking for volunteers who preferably live in the Netherlands or a similar timezone (+/- 2 hours). Travelling to Leiden in April 2027 is part of volunteering. Preparation meetings are by video call. We provide 3 hotel nights (April 4-6), but travel costs aren’t covered.

You’ll get free access to the full Festival. Depending on your tasks, you’ll be able to attend some of the talks.

We arrange a 3-night hotel stay (April 4-6). We can’t cover travel or other expenses.

We’re looking for volunteers on-site during the Festival days.

In our experience, a single core team supporting all phases works well. We get to know each other, and everyone knows what to expect. It’s also more rewarding: you get to see how attendees respond to work you helped shape.
