What is the framework for innovation? Design Council’s evolved Double Diamond

The Double Diamond model is often used in an innovation process. It describes stages of divergent and convergent thinking, both in idea generation phase as well as in the development phase.

This image by Design Counsil visualizes the Double Diamond Framework. It starts with a challenge on the left. The diverging part of the first diamond represents the discovery phase in design. The converging part of the first diamond represents the Denifition phase of design. The diverging part of the second diamond shape represents developing. The converging part delivering.

As a researcher, the model offers a framework for different types of research: from discovery research to validation (see the full article for some examples). It shows similarities with the NCredible model.
