Getting there and around

We’re excited to welcome you to the Netherlands again, this time in the beautiful city of Leiden.

The city is close to Amsterdam and famous for its university, museums, waterways, and quest for knowledge and freedom of expression. The historic canals, the beautiful buildings and alleyways have surrounded many who have made important discoveries over centuries.

    The monumental building, with its various halls and foyers, all provided with modern technology, makes a great fit for the cosy and warm atmosphere of the UXinsight Festival.

    The Stadsgehoorzaal is located in the city centre of Leiden and is easy to reach.

  • Getting to the venue

    The Stadsgehoorzaal is situated at Breestraat 60 (2311CS Leiden).

    Parking

    Park your car at P+R Haagweg or in one of the other parking garages in the city. The Stadsgehoorzaal only sells exit tickets (€11,- per day) for P+R Haagweg. This is a 10-minute walk to the Stadsgehoorzaal. Or you can take a free shuttle bus (every couple of minutes) that drops you off at the entrance of the venue.

    Public Transport

    From Leiden Central Station, it is a 15-minute walk to the Stadsgehoorzaal, or you can take any bus that stops at the Breestraat.

  • Accessibility of the venue
    • The Stadsgehoorzaal welcomes everyone.
    • All the halls used for the UXinsight Festival 2025 are accessible to wheelchairs.
    • An assistive system is available for the hearing impaired.
    • An officially trained guide dog is allowed inside to accompany you.
    • There will be a pause area – a quiet space for those wanting to unwind and some take time.

Leiden

  • How to get there

    Leiden is ideally situated close to major cities like The Hague and Amsterdam; and near the coast, Keukenhof and the Green Heart of Holland.

    Public transport

    Leiden is easily accessible by public transport. Trains depart from Amsterdam Centraal (35 min), Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (15-20 min) and Den Haag Centraal (12 min) every 10 minutes. The bus station is located in front of Leiden Centraal, and with numerous bus lines, you can easily reach various parts of the city or the region. Buses depart every five to ten minutes from Leiden Centraal to the city center.

    Car

    Located between the A4 and A44 highways, Leiden is easily accessible by car. More than 3000 parking spaces surround the historic heart. For parking close to the venue, check: Getting to the venue.

  • Staying in Leiden

    Also, there are plenty of nice and cosy Airbnbs in Leiden or closer to the beach (e.g. Katwijk or Noordwijk). And know that Leiden is about 35 minutes by train from Amsterdam Central train station if you’d prefer to stay in Amsterdam.

    Leiden is a relatively compact city, so much of the travel between the venue, hotels, train station, and restaurants can be done on foot. You also use public transport. Check bus schedules on 9292.nl.

    Leiden is a real cycling city, so when travelling by train, rent an OV-fiets at Leiden train station to go around by bike.

    Uber operates in Leiden but is not very common.

    How do I get to the Faculty of Law? Is there a walking tour of the Leiden hofjes (courtyard gardens)? What’s on this weekend? Your visit to Leiden begins at the tourist office, the VVV! The VVV is right opposite Leiden Central station and is easily accessible.
